-. | "The Original" | "Alpha" |
The Original (formerly known as simply “Incredibox”, “V0” in The Unreleased and briefly known as “Everything”[1]) is the first version of Incredibox, It was released on August 16th, 2009.
The version had a remastered version titled Alpha released onto the website on June 26, 2018, replacing the version and also adding new sounds where they were previously missing. It was later added to the app on September 26 of that year.
Overview[]
In the version, you can find characteristic sounds of jazz and funk. Each icon will make the selected character appear in a black t-shirt with the corresponding white icon on it. The belonging of the icons to one of the categories listed above is indicated by the similarity of their shape. The version has then-unnamed bonuses later titled The Choir, The Sailor, and Santa.
Differences[]
This version has unique aspects compared to the preceding versions. The version features Incredimen that has a very different appearance: with shorter hair, an earring on his right ear, and a slightly over-detailed face. This design is also adopted as Incredible Polo in the Incredibox art style, they also have less-smooth animation.
The version also has 5 sound categories, unlike the other versions where 4 are present. The categories consist of Instruments, Percussions, Effects, Choruses, and Voices, only having 8 sounds in total. This version unlocked the bonuses when you have used a certain total number of beatboxers on the screen, unlike future versions where you would need a certain combination of sounds onscreen.
Development[]
The Original has been in production since 2006,[2] Going through many changes during development. Not much is known about the rest of the development of The Original. It has had many stages of sound development, starting with a mock-up track made around 2008 heard at the very end of Two Faces on the album The Unreleased, which sounds very different from the final version for The Original. There is also another track released onto Vimeo by Incredible Polo titled You Tell Me The Right Thing in 2008, which is a full composition for the version with extra sounds added.
