The Scatposters, also referred to as the Scatposters Remastered, is a Scratch joke mod. It was originally uploaded on May 1st, 2023, before being reuploaded two days later after being taken down. It was later remade from the ground up and released as an update on August 10th of the same year.
The mod is officially a part of the same universe as Trillybox (despite not being made by the same creator) and centers around a cast of reoccurring characters such as the Dorito Lord, the Biomass Boggler, Turkey Tom Jr, Diogerald, and many more, ranging from distorted caricatures of Incredibox characters to pop culture references. The mod has undergone several overhauls and has garnered a cult-like fandom on sites such as Discord, being responsible for pioneering many tropes found in modern joke mods; for better or for worse.
The original version of the mod has been officially dubbed as The Scatposters Classic and was rereleased on its own.
Official Description[]
"The Hydration Man presents to you, one of the mods of all time. The designs are crISp and very high quality. The sounds all fit PERFECTLY with each other and definitely don't clash or sound off beat. And the performance is always at a crisp 10 fps. (Real) We have an epic crew of silly simpletons at your disposal. Drag and drop their icons to hear their pleas for help- I mean- melodic mystical tunes of pureness! I guarantee you even that your PC wont explode while loading the bonus. One of the most DAZZLING features of this mod is the inclusion of Ogre-Soft.exe. Visit the settings and click to install. Trust me it's very cool and not just a cosmetic. This mod helped the development of society. It transcended my mind and it will yours as well."
Overview[]
The Scatposters can be best described as questionable. Unlike its predecessor, the remaster contains 23 characters, (one of which is still locked) Every character design retains a consistent level of polish and effort though there is no single-color scheme, nor real similarities among categories. The "cast" are made up of either original character with absurd designs and names, famous internet memes and icons, real-life celebrities, or characters from video games.
The version has no true theme (at least among its main roster) and with the exception of a few. Almost all Polos either spout out renditions of songs from the property they hail from, or random sound effects. There is also a noticeable reoccurring cast of distinguished characters in the mod and its related projects, ties to Trillybox, and multiple intro menus that try to present the mod as a nonsensical, absurd, and surreal version of Incredibox.
Gameplay[]
Startup[]
The Scatposters starts out unlike other Scratch mods with an intro screen. The first visual depicts the default Incrediman making a comically smug face as a warning that states "This mod is a complete joke. It does not sound good," that can be read below. "Incredibox" and its main slogan appears in large letters with an icon showing the second beat's head along with a line of text that reads "To become deaf, use headphones." The screen then transitions to a selection menu where the person playing is able to either to view the mod's splash screen, a cast menu, as well as the settings and credits screen. Performance and flashing lights warnings are written at the bottom corners of the screen. The mod's icon has text above it warning the audience that they might regret what they are about to witness.
The Cast Menu[]
Upon selecting "Da Cast," the project loads a menu showing renders of all the characters. There is the option to scroll to the different sound categories as well as a fifth for unlocked bonus characters. In the background, the mod's main overture can be heard.
Settings/The Wall of Shame[]
The "Wall of Shame" (credits screen) has a background that either shows the Krusty Krab or Shrek's Swamp, depending on whether or not Ogre-Soft.exe has been installed. In the settings, the only remaining option is to install/uninstall Ogre-Soft. Activating it will change the screen to dark mode in the settings.
Splash Screen[]
Similarly, like the existence of the intro cinematics, the Scatposters has a splash screen that cycles through the music from the first bonus as cartoon sounds are emitted and arrows circle the screen. The mod finally starts once the play button finishes loading.
Bonus Features[]
Default Sprites[]
A noticeable change is the background, which has been swapped to the Krusty Krab from Spongebob Squarepants, and all default polos on screen have been disfigured and warped in a multitude of humorous ways. Dragging an icon to one of these polos causes them to further distort and become even more exaggerated in design.
Ogresoft.exe[]
Ogresoft.exe, the Scatposters equivalent of dark mode, changes the background and borders to become themed around Shrek. The latter donning a new lime green color scheme and the background switching to a classic Windows wallpaper with a jpeg of Shrek overlooking the screen. Placing in voice 5 (Shrek himself) causes him to flash rainbow colors during this mode, though there are no changes to actual gameplay aside from the stated visual differences.
Bonus Characters[]
At the top of the screen there are three bonus and polo icons. As of writing, only the first two bonuses are watchable, as the third isn't released. The same goes for the characters, though they are later on unlocked through viewing said bonuses, meaning only the first of the three can be placed in game. Based on it and hints from the Hydration Man himself, they all dramatically change the way the game plays, and behave differently than "normal" Polos.
Trivia[]
- In the original version, Melfive was originally Melody 5, as his name suggests. He was replaced by Tahu in the remaster, though he is still present as a bonus character and functions identically.
- This character change was because Melody 5 in the original was still intended to be Tahu, though this was scrapped due to his design being too complicated, and Melfive was added in about ten minutes prior to uploading the project to Scratch.
- Despite the substantial increase in quality, the remaster for the Scatposters only released around three months after the original, and was made entirely by the same creator.
- There are several cameos from other community members in the bonuses, such as LemohOmega and Noobsploder, who helped design sounds and composed the single track respectively.
- The official single for the Scatposters doesn't feature many characters from the version, and instead mostly remixes the bonus soundtrack, known as the official theme.
- The single track was also added into the game on the splash screen after its release, replacing what used to be the soundtrack for "Biomass Boggled" with sound effects removed.
- The Scatposters characters have made several cameos in other famous fan-mades and mods.
- These consist of the Dorito Lord being a secret character in Trillybox v3, the Biomass Boggler and the Incredicar being featured as cameos in Hood Irony, and the Dorito Lord being hidden within the files for the Forest Remaster.
- After the remaster update, The Night with the Scatposters had several design changes to make the characters look more as they appear in the newer version.
- Despite this, the Biomass Boggler, Shrek and Popcat's newer designs were implemented first in TNWTS before the remaster began development, so their designs remained unchanged.
- The remaster is infamous for its incredibly large size, despite its superficial quality of appearing to be nothing more than a shitpost. It is known for taking long amounts of time to load, and lagging heavily throughout both gameplay and bonuses, even with high-end devices or Turbowarp. This is most likely due to the size of the first bonus, which on its own has over 150+ costumes.
- Because of this, a lite version that removes all content aside from the main gameplay and 20 default characters has been released, so mobile devices can handle the size of the project.
- The Scatposters currently sits at nearly 60,000 visits and is among the top 30 results when searching "Incredibox" on Scratch.
- The main splash screen is a near identical recreation of the classic's thumbnail, with the addition of 123 Silly St. as the background and Tahu being present.
- There is a 2nd Scatposters game (IF ANYONE CAN FUCKING MAKE A PAGE FOR IT)
